US Immigration: United States Reaches 65,000 H-1B Visa Cap For 2022

A federal agency has announced that the US has received enough petitions to reach the Congress-mandated 65,000 H-1B visa cap for the fiscal year 2022.

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that permits US companies to hire foreign workers in technical occupations that need academic or technical expertise. Technology companies depend on it to hire thousands of employees every year from nations like India and China.

The H-1B visa program is the multiple sought-after work visa among foreign professionals.

As directed by the US Congress, the US may give a maximum of 65,000 H-1B visas per regular limit and another 20,000 H-1B visas in the US advanced degree immunity categories each year.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which screens all such applications every year, reported it had obtained a Congress-mandated 65,000 H-1B visa regular cap and 20,000 H-1B visas in good numbers to reach the US Advance degree. “We have finalized sending non-selection information to the online accounts of the registrants. The enrollment status for the FY 2022 H-1B numeric allotment has been submitted correctly but those that weren’t selected will directly show: Not selected: Not Selected – Not Qualified File an H-1B cap petition based on this registration.”

Who can get an H-1B visa?

USCIS will restart to accept and process petitions that are otherwise excused from the cap, it said.

The federal agency said, “Petitions pointed for current H-1B workers who were last counted against the cap, and who still keep their cap numbers, are excused from the FY 2022 H-1B cap.”

In the meantime, USCIS will resume to accept and process requisitions to develop the length of time a recent H-1B employee is in the US.
