IRCC’s Third Express Entry Draw: 1,800 Invitations Issued
In the third Express Entry draw this week, 1,800 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued in a category-based selection draw for candidates with French language proficiency. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for consideration was 400. This week’s minimum CRS score is one of the lowest scores of the year for any Express Entry draw.
Third Express Entry Draw
In a program-specific draw for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates held yesterday, the lowest score was 515, making it the lowest non-category-based selection draw score.
Earlier this week, 1,391 candidates were invited in a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-only draw with a minimum CRS of 670.

Previously, on July 8, IRCC invited 3,200 candidates in a category-based selection draw for French proficiency.
PNP-only Draws
CRS scores for PNP-only Express Entry draws tend to be higher than average because candidates successfully nominated for the PNP receive an additional 600 CRS points on top of their existing score.
For example, an Express Entry candidate with a score of 300 who is successfully nominated will then have an overall CRS of 900.
Express Entry Overview
Express Entry is an application management system for three economic immigration programs in Canada:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) evaluates candidates based on factors like occupation, age, education, language ability, and work experience.

Introduced in 2015, Express Entry aims to speed up processing time for successful applicants, with a published service standard of six months.
Category-Based Selection
Launched in 2023, category-based selection targets Express Entry candidates likely to fill urgent workforce gaps or strengthen demographics.
Six categories were introduced and will remain in place until 2025:
- Healthcare occupations
- Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
- Trades occupations (e.g., carpenters, plumbers, contractors)
- Transport occupations
- Agriculture and agri-food occupations
- French-language proficiency
Draws for these categories are not program-specific, and applicants must be in the Express Entry pool to be eligible.
