UK Proposes Immigration Health Surcharge Hike & Visa Fee Adjustments
The UK government has recently put forth a proposal to augment the immigration health surcharge, slated to become effective from January 16, 2024, or 21 days after obtaining approval from Parliament, depending on whichever comes later.
Financial Implications for Individuals and Organizations
This proposed adjustment primarily impacts the immigration health surcharge rates, with a noteworthy surge from £624 per year to £1,035 per annum for the standard rate. For students or applicants under 18, the surcharge is set to climb from £470 per year to £776 annually. The immigration health surcharge represents a mandatory upfront payment obligatory during the submission of applications for entry or residency in the UK.

It’s crucial to note that applications submitted prior to the implementation of this adjustment will not be subject to the increased surcharge. Specifically, skilled worker and global business mobility visa applications can be submitted up to three months before an individual’s proposed start date.
