Diversity Visa Program (DV-2025), which allows people from countries with low U.S. immigration rates to enter a lottery for a chance to apply for a U.S. immigrant visa. Here are the key points.
Diversity Visa Program
The DV-2025 program is open from October 4 to November 7, 2023, for entry submissions.
The entry form is only available for submission during this period, and submissions through the U.S. Postal Service are not accepted.
For Fiscal Year 2025, up to 55,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available, and there is no cost to register for the DV program.
Selectees must meet strict eligibility requirements, determined through a randomized computer drawing by the Department of State.
The Department of State distributes diversity visas among six geographic regions, with no single country receiving more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year.
Some countries and areas are not eligible to apply for DV-2025 due to having more than 50,000 natives immigrating to the United States in the previous five years. However, the United Kingdom and its dependent territories are now eligible for DV-2025.
