IRCC Issues 3,000 ITAs In Latest Express Entry Draw
3000 ITAs Express Entry Draw: Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has once again extended invitations to apply (ITA) in a fresh round of Express Entry invitations. In this draw, a total of 3,000 candidates were invited to apply for Canadian immigration across all programs. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required to receive an ITA in this draw was 504.

Category-Based Selection: A New Approach
In a significant development, IRCC introduced category-based selection earlier this year. Instead of relying solely on overall CRS scores, Express Entry draws can now focus on specific attributes. This change was initiated after an amendment to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) in 2022, granting the immigration minister authority to select candidates who align with Canada’s economic goals and French language promotion outside Quebec.

The Six New Categories
Under the category-based selection system, six new categories were created, each targeting in-demand occupations and individuals with strong French language skills. These categories are:
- Healthcare
- STEM Professions
- Trades
- Transport
- Agriculture and Agri-food
- French Language Proficiency
Express Entry candidates must meet a minimum CRS score to be eligible for category-based selection.
Understanding Express Entry
Express Entry is a streamlined application management system for economic immigration candidates in various programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). It employs the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to assess candidates based on factors such as work experience, occupation, education, age, and language proficiency. The highest-scoring candidates receive invitations to apply for permanent residence.
