Canada Invites 667 Candidates with Express Entry Draw
On March 5th, 2023, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its sixth Express Entry draw of the year. The draw saw 667 candidates receive invitations with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 748. This was the fourth program-specific draw of the year, and the third for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), while one draw was for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).
Express Entry draws
IRCC had paused all-program Express Entry draws for 18 months between January 2021 and July 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All draws in 2022 were all-program after July. Since the start of 2023, IRCC has conducted only two all-program draws, both in January. These draws invited 5,000 candidates each based on their minimum CRS score.

IRCC has recently launched an application tracker for Express Entry programs, which will allow candidates to monitor their applications online. This applies to candidates in the Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). The tracker will help clients stay informed on any updates regarding actions required to keep their file moving.
Canadian immigration programs
Express Entry is an application management system for three Canadian immigration programs:
- the Canadian Experience Class (CEC),
- the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and
- the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
Candidates are evaluated using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and those with the highest scores receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and can then apply for permanent residency. Once the application is submitted, an IRCC officer reviews it to decide whether to approve it, making the applicant a permanent resident of Canada.
