Canada Has A New Plan To Tackle The Growing Immigration Backlog
Canada has been working to deal with a growing immigration backlog for some duration now. This is despite the country developing a record-breaking speed to receive new immigrants in the first 5 months of this year.
Canada’s immigration backlog stood at approximately 2.4 million people as of June 6, 2022, according to data transferred with ET by IRCC shows.
Canadian Prime Minister Said
To essay this, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has declared a new task pressure to dive into its growing immigration backlog.
“We are conscious that delays in service, especially in recent months, are unacceptable… We will continue to make every effort to improve the delivery of these services in an efficient and timely manner, and this new task force Will helps guide the work of the government to meet the changing needs of Canadians better and will continue to provide the high-quality services they need and deserve,” Trudeau said.

The labor force, a committee of cabinet ministers, will check assistance delivery, identify gaps and areas for progress, and create proposals to ensure Canadians welcome the highest quality of service.
Processing of Immigration
The labor force seeks to fast-track the processing of immigration applications by recognizing areas where the activity is urgently required.
“IRCC is shifting towards a more integrated, modernized, and centralized operating environment to rev application processing globally,” Aidan Strickland, press secretary in the Office of the Minister for Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship, told ET.
To keep the processing and removal of new permanent residents in Canada, as part of Canada’s Immigration Leveling Plan, the government earmarked $2.1 billion in the new budget over 5 years and $317.6 million in new funding in Budget 2022 has promised.
Recently, IRCC has begun prioritizing Express Entry applicants who are already in the application pool to clear the path for fresh nominees.
Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has declared that express entry draws will continue for all programs in early July, with a pre-pandemic processing assistance standard of 6 months.
